It is a home optical fiber technology, it is a technology to transmit data at very high speeds equivalent to
light speed, these speeds are up to 100 Mbps, ranging from 20 to 100 times faster than a typical ground
cable, it can simply upload documents of hours in seconds, and large games and programs can also be
uploaded in a few seconds, besides uploading their size files big in seconds too, all through this
technology, also can share visual communications, watch TV online.
Currently, FTTH is the best existing, most stable Internet connection besides its very high speed, a
constant technology that is not affected by external factors, such as extreme wind, temperature
changes, jamming, and other factors.
FTTH optical fiber is installed and used from a central point, directly reaching buildings only whether
residential and corporate, not to apartments or individuals, with the aim of providing high-speed
Internet connectivity, Connecting FTTH technology widely is expensive, because it requires installing a
range of new cables through existing fiber optic cables to users, this is a fundamental reason why the
spread of FTTH technology has been slow.

FTTH technology components:
There are two types of fiber optic cables that allow the implementation of FTTH technology, and the
transmission of data at very high speeds through light, namely:
– Active AON optical cables, electrical switches are used to send signals of activity to specific users.
– Passive PON optical cables, optical dividers are used to send signals of switchgear allowance, thus users
only need switchgear at the receiving end of the network.
Although both are used in the implementation and installation of FTTH technology, most fittings of FTTH
technology use PON, since it is cheaper to install, it provides high performance, and PON system consists
of:
A device located in the cabins or central office of the provider (OLT: Optical Line Termination), consisting
of several cards each with a number of outlets called PON: Passive Optical Network, an optical
distribution network connector for the division and distribution of the signal, via the distributor splitter,
called (ONT: optical Network Termination)

Features of FTTH technology:
One of the key features of FTTH technology is to increase the efficiency of network performance,
especially high speeds over long distances, as these speeds are not accessible through traditional DSL
copper networks, and also FTTH technology is the best technology that can handle the requirements of
high consumer in the coming period, and other most important features:
1- High speed, for longer distances than previous technologies, by more than 8 km, up to 60 km, in case
the filament is not spared.
2- Accuracy and signal clarity, as the performance is improved and this is shown in the high resolution of
videos, for example on the YouTube app.
3. The ability of FTTH technology to support future services, as fiber surrounding infrastructure can be
upgraded, without the need to update the fiber itself, and also the possibility of changing capacity and
the number of ports, at the customer only by changing the device.
